Things that Happened Over the Summer that I Didn't Write About

This last summer got away from me. Honestly, I don't remember a summer ever going by that fast. Even though the days flew by, we still tried to take advantage of every moment.

What I didn't do was write about all those moments. So, while you may not be interested in what amounts to "what I did over my summer vacation" post, this is mostly for me. So that I can look back and remember.

This post takes us all the way back to the end of May/beginning of June. We had just spent a day visiting the bridges of Madison County for our 10th wedding anniversary. What I didn't write about was that after we had finished, we made our way to Omaha, Nebraska. Because nothing says 10 year anniversary like Omaha, Nebraska. The reason we went was because each year, we try to visit a different zoo. And this year, we wanted to go to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. We had heard so many great things about it.

This zoo did not disappoint.

There was all the expected zoo sites: lizards, rhinos, giraffes, monkeys, birds.

But then there were the unexpected...

Rope bridges (which Monkey firmly refused to walk on.)

A butterfly house (right next to the bug house that left both boys nearly in tears because they were so scared of the giant spiders.)

The Desert Dome (The building was almost more impressive than the exhibits.)

Penguins (the boys could have spent the entire day just watching the penguins).

Sharks (seriously, a zoo with sharks! This place is great.)

The boys got up close to bears.

They talked to parrots.

They watched sea turtles swim.

How much fun did we have? Well, I think these pictures show just a little bit of how much we enjoyed it...

I know that I said we try to go to a different zoo every year. But we might make an exception and go to this one again.

  1. I love zoos! It's been too long since we've hit one up. Awesome rope bridge.

  2. There's nothing like zoos. To even get the adults excited. But for kids, it's heaven. Good for you & hubby for giving that to your kids.

  3. That looks like so much fun. The last time I went to the zoo, I took The Nephew. I think it was last year. We need to go again.
